About Master Ski Racing Nederland

Master Ski Racing Nederland was founded by Anne-Marie van den Ende and Marc Brekoo and focuses on skiers who want to engage in ski racing, from recreational to professional level.

Master Ski Racing Nederland has the mission of introducing skiers aged 30 and older to ski racing in a responsible way, helping them grow and develop as ski racers. Supporting these skiers in achieving their personal goals, with the information and expert guidance that Master Ski Racing Nederland can provide, so they can remain active and healthy throughout their lives. To achieve this, we work together with certified coaches from both the Netherlands and abroad.

Challenges for master skiers are mainly related to the time available. Receiving high-quality training is essential for improvement. However, balancing training with work, family, and social commitments is not always easy. Master Ski Racing Nederland aims to support you, the master athletes, by organizing training camps, for example, in the days leading up to scheduled competitions, near the competition venues.

My name is Anne-Marie van den Ende. I grew up in Weert and started skiing at a young age in Maria Alm, Austria. When I was twelve years old, I was scouted and given the opportunity to live and train in Austria, but I did not think that was such a great idea and happily stayed in the Netherlands.

Like many teenagers, I eventually found going out much more fun, so skiing... what was that again?

In 2018, my passion for skiing returned, and I decided to pursue the National Snowsport Instructor certification at Snowsports Academy, so that alongside my regular job, I could also teach skiing.

I started teaching ski lessons at Montana Snowcenter in Valkenswaard and became involved with the Montana Race Department. You can't escape what's in your blood—and sure enough, the spark was reignited. I began training with the Montana Race Department and, in 2020, moved to G-Force under Geertje Derksen to continue developing myself even further.

After competing in several national and a few international races, I joined the FIS World Cup Masters in January 2024. This is the World Cup circuit for athletes aged 30 and over, fully organized by the FIS. In addition to the World Cup events, there is also a World Championship held once a year and the Winter World Master Games held once every four years (the Olympic Games for Masters athletes, recognized by the International Olympic Committee). All athletes are also registered in the Olympic Library as Olympic Athletes.

Through the experiences I have gained and the connections I have built, the idea emerged to create Master Ski Racing Nederland. A place where it is possible to develop yourself as a skier alongside your work and family life—and perhaps even become a world champion.

I personally missed the flexibility to train abroad, because that requires a great deal when you have a family and a full-time job. That is why my husband Marc and I set out to find the most efficient and successful way to pursue our dreams.

My name is Marc Brekoo. I grew up in Eindhoven/Weert and—without knowing it at the time—learned to ski just 20 kilometers away from Anne-Marie, as the crow flies, in the beautiful village of Hinterglemm. Before I met her, I spent at most one week a year on skis. But that was enough to know with certainty that skiing is one of the most enjoyable ways to spend your time.

A lot has changed over the past few years, and we now spend much of our time traveling within the World Cup circuit. The experiences we have gained and the strong connections we have built within the competitive skiing community led us to establish Master Ski Racing Nederland to share our knowledge and experience. In addition, we want to motivate as many masters athletes as possible and provide them with opportunities to train under the best conditions with outstanding world-class coaches.

I am now primarily involved in the organization behind the team: maintaining contacts with other federations and masters teams, organizing training sessions and training camps together with our coaches, and providing Dutch masters athletes with all the information they need for the upcoming season.

As a board member of Master Ski Racing Nederland, I hope to inspire more people to discover this wonderful sport and support them on their journey to the top.
