International Competitions
The international Masters racing circuit is organized by the FIS and the various national ski federations around the world.
The World Cup races are discussed and allocated among different countries and host venues through official meetings. Marc Brekoo of Master Ski Racing Nederland works closely with the Dutch Ski Federation (NSkiV) and the FIS on these matters. As a result, we maintain direct lines of communication with the FIS leadership and are able to contribute to decision-making regarding World Cups, World Championships, and World Cup Finals.
To ensure fair competition, athletes are divided into five-year age categories. Your competitors can therefore be no more than five years younger or older than you. In addition, the FIS embraces the Olympic spirit and promotes lifelong participation in sport. You are never too old to compete.
To participate in international competitions, you must apply for a Masters FIS license through your own ski federations.

World Cup
Just as the world's top stars such as Mikaela Shiffrin and Marco Odermatt compete on the World Cup circuit, the FIS also organizes a World Cup Masters series. Competitors race for a crystal globe that is awarded at the end of the season. The points system is exactly the same; the only difference is that Masters athletes must be at least 30 years old.
The season begins in August in Australia and Chile. The World Cup then continues with the indoor circuit in November, followed by events in the European mountains in December. During the winter season, the World Cup also travels to Canada and the United States. Naturally, participating in every event is not financially feasible for everyone, and you are free to choose which World Cups you would like to compete in. An overview of all events can be found in our calendar.
If you would like to register for World Cup competitions, we can arrange this for you. For more information, please complete the contact form or send us an email.

World Championships
The World Championships are held annually and offer a truly memorable experience, including an impressive opening ceremony. Three disciplines are contested:
- Super-G
- Giant Slalom
- Slalom
You are not required to participate in all disciplines. However, a coach's declaration is required to compete in the Super-G event.
Each age category has its own podium. As described earlier, competitors are grouped into five-year age brackets to ensure fair competition.
Winter World Master Games
The Winter Olympic Games for Masters athletes, officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee. By participating in these Games, you will be included in the Olympic Library.
The Winter World Master Games are held every four years. In 2028, Finland will host the event, and alpine ski races will take place in Levi. Thanks to our strong cooperation with other federations, we have already assembled an enthusiastic group of short-track skaters, speed skaters, and skiers who are training hard for Levi 2028. Will you join us in Finland and walk alongside us in the opening ceremony under the Dutch flag?
If you would like more information about the World Cups, World Championships, or the Winter World Master Games, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.
Insurance
Because competitive skiing is no longer considered a recreational activity, a standard winter sports insurance policy is not sufficient. It is important to obtain appropriate coverage through the Dutch Ski Federation that also covers competitive racing activities. More information about obtaining suitable insurance can be found on the website of the Dutch Ski Federation.
